Taste of Carroll started as a modest idea, as many of the best ones do—a fundraiser featuring food from local establishments to raise money for hospice services.
And, in the past 20 years, it has steadily grown in popularity. While the venue and the format has shifted as it has evolved through the years, the purpose of this event has remained the same: to raise funds for continued unparalleled hospice care in Carroll County and the surrounding communities.
Today, Taste of Carroll is Carroll Hospice’s premier fundraising event and has raised nearly $2 million since its start in 1999.
The need for hospice care in our area grows each year, says Robbin Nolen, chair of this year’s event. “Personally, I have seen what hospice can do for patients and their families,” she says. “It’s comforting to see the relief in a family when they know Carroll Hospice is there to help at such a delicate time.”
Monies raised from the event are used for the uncompensated care that Carroll Hospice provides, including end-of-life care costs not covered by a patient’s insurance and the vast array of bereavement services offered to patients’ families and the community at large.
“Many services offered by Carroll Hospice are not reimbursed by insurance companies, which is why Taste of Carroll is so important,” says Nolen. “We need to continue to serve our community with the programs Carroll Hospice offers, like care at the Dove House inpatient facility, Camp T.R., veterans’ events and bereavement support.”
Join us as we celebrate 20 delectable years of raising funds for hospice care. This year’s theme is the Roaring ’20s, of course, and we aim to raise $220,000. We look forward to celebrating with you, Gatsby style, Monday, April 29, 2019! Tickets go on sale Friday, March 1, and sponsorship opportunities are available.
